commercial & retail

Housing is the mainstay of Woodman Development Company’s business.  But, strong communities need a jobs and housing balance.  Since the development approach to commercial and retail is comparable to residential, Woodman has all of the expertise to successfully develop commercial real estate in addition to residential.

The company built two distinguished commercial projects in the Laguna Seca Office Park.  A luxurious boutique French Country style property provides approximately 11,000 square feet of Class A professional and medical offices, with many specialized tenant improvements.  The Oakvale Professional Center, offered four separate buildings in a planned development totaling about 19,000 square feet.  This contemporary Craftsman style complex facilitated separate ownership for several local small businesses.  Each Class A building is elevator served, one has a surgical center, and another has subterranean parking.

After building nearly 450 homes in Soledad, Woodman saw the need for neighborhood retail in the heart of its master planned development.  The company designed and built Gabilan Plaza, a 23,000 square foot neighborhood retail center with mission style architecture.  Initial tenants included a credit union, an urgent care facility, a bakery, a dental office, a Mexican restaurant, a deli, a real estate office and several others.  Woodman sold the project to a local investor with strong Soledad community ties.

Other company projects like Mills Ranch and East Garrison each included commercial components.  The East Garrison’s original design boasted an elaborate town center filled with dining, commercial, retail, and live work units, again reflecting the company’s commitment to a balance of jobs and housing.
